How to choose equipment
Match the roll to the unit’s job: prioritize damage and SPA for carries, range where coverage is the limiting factor, and Physical or Magical Damage Dealt only when it matches the unit. Compare the unit database and traits guide, then check the codes page for free resources before spending Gold or locks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about Anime Expeditions equipment
How do I get equipment in Anime Expeditions?
Equipment drops from completing Story Mode maps. Each map has its own loot pool — some maps drop Standard Equipment usable by any unit, while others drop Unit Equipment exclusive to a specific evolved unit (e.g. Hexed Blade only drops on the Shadow map). The drop chance is not guaranteed; you may need to replay maps multiple times to get the piece you're looking for. Check individual equipment detail pages on this wiki for the specific map each item drops from.
What's the difference between Standard Equipment and Unit Equipment?
Standard Equipment (e.g. Katana, Magic Orb, Raid Cape, Promise Ring) can be equipped by any unit in one of the two standard slots. Unit Equipment (e.g. Hexed Blade, Hair Bells, Spirit of the Moonblade) is exclusive to one specific evolved unit and goes into the third slot unlocked after evolution. Unit Equipment typically has unique passive effects on top of its rollable stats, making it significantly stronger than standard gear.
How many equipment slots does each unit have?
Every unit starts with 2 Standard Equipment slots by default. After evolving a unit, it gains a third slot reserved exclusively for its Unit Equipment. For example, evolving Shadow into Shadow (Divine) unlocks the third slot where only Hexed Blade can be placed. This means evolved units can hold 2 Standard pieces + 1 Unit piece simultaneously.
What are the best equipment for DPS units?
For DPS units, prioritize equipment with Damage% and Crit Chance / Crit Damage stats. Warrior's Axe, Katana, and Kunai are excellent Standard picks for physical damage dealers. Magic-based DPS units benefit from Magic Orb and Magic Book. If you have an evolved meta DPS unit, their Unit Equipment should always be the priority — Hexed Blade (Shadow), Hair Bells (8th Sword), and Spirit of the Moonblade (Reaper) are the strongest gear pieces in the game.
How do Equipment Rerolls and Equipment Locks work?
Each equipment piece has a specific number of rollable stats (shown as the dice count on its card). When you obtain a piece of equipment, its stats roll randomly within the listed ranges (e.g. +1% to +10% Damage). Use Equipment Rerolls to re-roll these values if you get low rolls. Equipment Locks let you lock a stat you're happy with so it won't change during subsequent rerolls. This is separate from Stat Rerolls / Stat Locks, which apply to a unit's base stats, not its equipment.
Can I use the same equipment on multiple units?
No — each piece of equipment is bound to the unit it's equipped on until you manually unequip it. You cannot share one Katana across multiple units simultaneously. If you want multiple units to use the same type of equipment, you'll need to farm multiple copies of that item from its drop source. Unit Equipment is even stricter — it can only be equipped on its designated evolved unit and cannot be moved to anyone else.
What stats should I aim for when rerolling equipment?
Always aim for the top end of the stat range (e.g. +10% Damage rather than +1%). The priority order by unit role: DPS — Damage% > Crit Chance/Crit Damage% > Range%; Support — SPA reduction (lower is better) > Range% > Damage%; Farm — Range% > SPA reduction. Use Equipment Locks to preserve high rolls before continuing to reroll the remaining stats. Because reroll materials are limited, don't chase perfect rolls on every piece — focus on your main DPS unit first.
What happens to equipment when I evolve a unit?
When a unit evolves, its equipped Standard Equipment stays in place — you don't lose it. The evolution also unlocks the third equipment slot, which can only hold that unit's exclusive Unit Equipment (if one exists). For example, evolving Reaper into Reaper (Released) keeps your equipped Standard gear and unlocks the slot for Spirit of the Moonblade. You'll then need to farm the Unit Equipment separately from its designated Story Mode map.
Which story mode maps drop which equipment?
Each Unit Equipment is tied to the story mode map featuring its corresponding unit. For example: Hexed Blade drops from Shadow's map, Hair Bells from 8th Sword's map, Spirit of the Moonblade from Reaper's map, and Calamity's Eye from Puppet's map. Standard Equipment like Katana, Magic Orb, and Warrior's Axe can drop from multiple maps. For the exact drop locations of any piece, click through to its individual detail page on this wiki — each equipment page lists its specific source map.
