Gems fuel summons, while Gold pays for upgrades, evolution, shops, and equipment rerolls. Trait Crystals, Stat Rerolls, and the two Lock items modify long-term units, so they are usually best saved until the unit database confirms that a character is worth investing in.
Evolution recipes combine a character-specific Quest Material, colored Sprites, Rainbow Sprites, and Gold. Each evolved unit page links its exact recipe back to the corresponding entries in this database.
There are currently 51 progression items tracked in Anime Expeditions, including 7 currencies, 8 categories of materials (Sprites, Quest Materials, Upgrade Materials, Food, Expedition Materials, Currency, Raid Totems, and Other consumables). New items are added with each game update — this page was last verified on July 22, 2026.
Sprites are evolution and crafting materials. There are 8 tiers: Grey → Blue → Green → Pink → Purple → Red → Yellow → Rainbow. Lower-tier Sprites can be combined (crafted) into higher-tier ones. You'll need Sprites to evolve your units and create better Sprites for late-game progression.
Most Mythic items — such as Hollowed Visor, 8th's Sword, Giant Hammer, Burning Fruit, and others — are obtained by completing a specific unit's Unit Quest. For example, Hollowed Visor drops from Reaper's Unit Quest. Once obtained, these items are used as unique materials to evolve that unit into its upgraded form.
Stat Reroll rerolls a unit's stat potential (the random stat values each unit gets). Equipment Reroll rerolls the stats on a piece of equipment. They are separate systems — you'll need Stat Rerolls for your units and Equipment Rerolls for your gear. Similarly, Stat Lock and Equipment Lock let you lock specific stats so they won't change when rerolling.
Gems can be obtained from daily rewards, completing story stages, events, and as premium currency purchases. Gold, Event Coins, Expedition Coins, Crowns, Raid Tokens, and Spirit Tokens are earned through their respective game modes (raids, expeditions, events, tournaments).
Each evolvable unit requires a unique Mythic Quest Material. Complete that unit's Unit Quest to obtain the material (e.g., Reaper needs Hollowed Visor, Flame Emperor needs Burning Fruit, Puppet needs Puppet Heart). You'll also need Sprites and other resources as part of the evolution cost.
Trait Crystals are Mythic upgrade materials used to reroll a unit's trait. Combined with Stat Rerolls, Stat Locks, Equipment Rerolls, and Equipment Locks, they form the core progression loop for optimizing your units' and equipment's stats beyond basic leveling.
Gold can be farmed by replaying story stages, completing raids, and participating in expeditions and events. Certain consumables like Luck Potion and Super Luck Potion can boost your drop rates temporarily, helping you farm Gold and other resources faster.
